Darwin Nunez continued to win over Liverpool fans with a selfless gesture during their 1-0 victory over RB Leipzig.
The goal itself was scored thanks to Mo Salah’s well-estimated header. After Tsimikas’ cross, Salah caught the goalkeeper on the counter. You can clearly see that Gulacsi was moving towards Salah but the ball headed to the left angle.
Nunez was good at finding the right position and touched the ball near the goal line.
But was the ball actually going in?
It actually looks like the ball could hit the post, so Nunez’s touch was definitely necessary in this situation.
After scoring the match’s only goal—a close-range tap-in from a Mohamed Salah header — Nunez was congratulated by captain Virgil van Dijk.
However, instead of soaking in the praise, Nunez humbly pointed towards Salah, insisting that the credit belonged to him, saying, “No, it’s Mo.”
Van Dijk then appeared to say “we need more” as he slapped his teammates’ chest
As for Salah, he was very glad to assist the partner. Fans’ reactions were divided on Salah’s header.
thebreamteam: “Was likely going to hit the post, good job from Darwin.”
AstronomerPrimary900: “I think it would have been a goal but Darwin had to see it in”
FUCKSTORM420: “Think that was going in regardless lol.”
TheGrouchyGamerYT: “That’s 100% going in 😂”
AmargiVeMoo: “Kill steal lmao🤩”
ash_ninetyone: “Think that was heading wide from Salah to touch it in from Nunez. Well worked.”
Liverpool’s solid performance kept their unbeaten run alive in the Champions League group stage. Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher played a crucial role, delivering a Player of the Match display with key saves against a threatening Leipzig side.
Nunez’s goal and humble attitude after the win further cemented his growing connection with Anfield.
